Airrex diesel infrared heaters provide quiet, portable radiant heat for workshops, garages, warehouses and other large working spaces. Instead of relying on a fan to circulate warm air, infrared heat warms people, equipment and surrounding surfaces directly.

Airrex heaters use oxygen during combustion, so adequate inlet and outlet ventilation must be maintained. The manufacturer states that a separate exhaust pipe is not normally required in many ventilated working environments, but these heaters must not be used in premises where people sleep. The AH-200i and AH-800i use a 220–230 V electrical supply for their controls and fuel system. They include thermostatic control, safety monitoring and automatic shutdown functions. Fieldfare's product information lists protection for conditions including overheating, abnormal movement or tilt, fuel shortage and burner faults.
Fuel consumption varies with the model and operating conditions. Thermostatic operation means the burner does not necessarily run continuously once the selected temperature has been reached. They produce infrared heat that is absorbed by people, objects and structures. Those warmed surfaces then also transfer heat to the surrounding air.

Because radiant heat does not depend on a circulation fan, the heater does not blow dust around in the way a fan heater can. The heater must still be positioned and maintained according to its manual.
